Dr. Camille F. Cohen earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, from The University of Miami. After graduation, she worked as a research assistant at Bascom Palmer, and as an ophthalmic technician at a local Pearle Vision. In March 2008, her research project was published by The American Chemical Society (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/citedby/10.1021/pr7008687).
“My vision has never been great. There was something comforting in going to the eye doctor. It wasn’t just that he helped me to see better; he remembered me, cared about me, and made me feel special. I wanted to create that feeling for others. What could be better than caring for people and helping them to see?”-Dr. Cohen

“Vision exams are so much more than gathering a prescription for glasses or contact lenses! A comprehensive eye exam can reveal vision disorders which have been incorrectly labeled as learning disorders, improper management of systemic diseases, such as diabetes, or in the most unfortunate cases, the presence of a brain tumor. I have diagnosed all of those and so much more, in the hope of improving not only patients’ vision, but lives.”-Dr. Cohen
Dr. Cohen is still an active member of The National Optometric Association (NOA), having served as the Communications Director for the NOA Board. Additionally, she organized several community service projects, which earned her the 2018 NOA Service Award, and works diligently with SUNY Optometry students, as a mentor.
Her most recent projects have included partnering with the VSP Mobile Clinic, to provide free medical exams and glasses to patients in Brooklyn, as well as a partnership with the iCare Project, which provides eye care to children’s homes in Ethiopia. The most memorable project was organizing a mission trip in rural Montego Bay, Jamaica, to provide exams and glasses to school children.
“The needs of our patients & our community are of utmost importance. Please allow me & my staff to not only meet, but exceed your expectations.”- Dr. Cohen
